NAT successful in giving evidence to Committee

NAT (National AIDS Trust) warmly welcomes the Work and Pensions Committee’s recommendation that as a general rule disability related enquiries should only be permitted after a conditional job offer has been made.

Work Capability Assessment*, the test undertaken to determine whether a person is eligible for Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)**, fails to recognise the impact of HIV on ability to work, according to a new research report by NAT (National AIDS Trust).

NAT (National AIDS Trust) responds to figures released today from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) which show 75% of Employment Support Allowance (ESA) claimants are found either ‘fit for work’ or drop their claim before they’re completed.
