Grindr's HIV data sharing - NAT comment
Deborah Gold, Chief Executive of NAT, said: "We are concerned to learn that Grindr has shared sensitive personal data with third parties, including apparently HIV status, email address and location. We are pleased the matter is being investigated by the Information Commissioner's Office and we look forward to their assessment of what happened. It is vitally important that individuals are told of how their personal information is going to be used and shared with third parties, for whatever reasons. There are immense risks of improper use when such sensitive and possibly identifying information is collated and control passed over to others. People living with HIV should be in full control of where their status is shared and why."
