Hand made red ribbon beaded brooch

These brooches are made by a self-help group of women in a remote part of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. There are approximately 400 women in the group which helps women to make a living from embroidery and beadwork. The community here struggles desperately against the impact of the HIV pandemic and extreme poverty - the average life expectancy is 39 years.

Action for Ingwavuma is a British charity who have worked in this area for 15 years. National AIDS Trust is donating 50% of sale proceeds of this brooch to Action for Ingwavuma.
