Social care and support

Social care & support

The issue:

Social care can provide a vital lifeline for many people, helping them to live well with HIV in their own homes. HIV support services are equally important and can prevent or delay the need to access social care. They include everything from peer support and counselling to advocacy and patient self-management.

What we do:

National AIDS Trust monitors how changes in policy and cuts in funding impact on social care and support. We work with groups inside and outside of government to improve the way that social care is funded and accessed. We campaign to end cuts in funding and to make the NHS take responsibility for aspects of support for people living with HIV where there is a direct benefit to health.
