Preventing HIV

The issue:

HIV transmission can be prevented, but the number of HIV infections in the UK is still increasing. People at risk urgently need to know how they can avoid getting HIV, and medication that can prevent transmission, such as PEP and PrEP, must be available to them.

What we do:

NAT influences national strategy, policy and guidance on preventing HIV transmission. Through research on public spending on HIV prevention, we hold local and central Government to account. Our campaigning maintains focus on investment in prevention across the UK and we have taken legal action to ensure that the NHS cannot ignore new innovations like PrEP.
