NAT Welcomes Concert for Diana Funding

The National AIDS Trust welcomes the generous donation by the Concert for Diana organised by Prince William and Prince Harry in July 2007.

Deborah Jack, Chief Executive of the National AIDS Trust, said:

“We would like to thank the Princes William and Harry for their important contribution to the fight against HIV, in raising awareness and money for one of the causes closest to Princess Diana’s heart.

“The funds raised by the Concert for Diana for the National AIDS Trust will help the organisation move forward at a critical time for HIV work in the UK. Despite rising numbers of HIV diagnoses every year in the UK, HIV has dropped off the public agenda since Princess Diana’s tragic death ten years ago and many HIV organisations are currently cutting services and staff.

“This money will help to safeguard our future in the short-term. It will also increase the impact of our work challenging the fear, ignorance and discrimination associated with HIV that Diana campaigned against, and still continues today. It will for example enable us to make resources on HIV available to every secondary school in the UK free of charge, helping to raise awareness among young people of the social, health and economic impact of HIV and AIDS in the UK and worldwide. The Schools pack will also be important in giving young people the facts they need to protect themselves from HIV infection. ”
