Alan Cumming to host Angels in America Gala Performance
The National AIDS Trust, Headlong Theatre and the Lyric Hammersmith are delighted to announce that Alan Cumming is to host the charity gala performance of Angels in America at the Lyric Hammersmith on Wednesday 4 July, in aid of the National AIDS Trust.
Alan Cumming is one of the leading actors in Britain today and is renowned for his work both on screen and on stage, and in particular for his Tony-winning performance in the highly successful revival of Cabaret. Alan is also a high-profile supporter of the fight against HIV, having contributed his time and energies to several leading HIV and AIDS charities.
Alan Cumming comments:
"I am thrilled to be able to host this fantastic evening, which will not only raise vital funds for the National AIDS Trust, but will also bring attention to the issues that this brilliant and thought-provoking play addresses. Unfortunately HIV-related stigma and discrimination is still with us today, fifteen years after this play was written, and I am pleased to help increase public awareness of this issue by supporting this event."
Deborah Jack, Chief Executive of the National AIDS Trust, comments:
"Alan Cumming 's support for the charity gala performance of 'Angels in America' is hugely appreciated by the National AIDS Trust. With Alan as host, guests are guaranteed a very entertaining evening, as well as knowing that they are raising funds to help people living with HIV."
