GAYE (Give As You Earn), or Payroll Giving, is the simplest tax-free way for individuals to donate direct to NAT. Not only does your gift go further but we receive the money on a monthly basis, which means we have the security to plan our future activities much more efficiently.
How it works
If you give to NAT through your payroll, your money can do even more to help us stop the spread of HIV.
- Whatever you pledge each month is taken from your salary before tax is deducted - money that would normally go to the taxman goes to NAT instead
- So, if you choose to donate £5 a month to NAT via GAYE, it will only cost you £4 if you are a basic rate taxpayer, and even less if you are a higher rate taxpayer
- Your company may have a £ for £ scheme where they will match (or even double!) the amount you pledge
What to do next
Making a monthly donation through your salary is simple to organise. All you need to do is decide how much you would like to donate to us and the person responsible for payroll at your organisation will set up the payment. It will then be deducted automatically from your gross pay or pension before income tax. If your organisation does not yet operate a Payroll Giving Scheme, talk to the person responsible for payroll to arrange a scheme that allows you to donate through your salary.
Help more than one charity
If you would rather give to a number of charities, NAT is also part of the consortium, Somebody Cares which splits your donation between four different charities which help people in greatest need.
Payroll Giving scheme
If there isn't a Payroll Giving scheme already, talk to your employer about setting one up!
