HIV: an Agenda for Action
NAT held a Parliamentary Reception on 20 October 2010 to launch HIV: an Agenda for Action.
The Agenda for Action sets out both what our key aims should be if we are to address HIV effectively in the UK, and also the practical action to be taken if we are to achieve those aims.
The aims set out in the Agenda for Action are:
- To ensure that there is a national strategic approach across the UK to tackling HIV
- To reduce rates of HIV transmission through effective prevention
- To significantly reduce the number of people with HIV who are diagnosed late
- To address the current failings in treatment, care and support for people living with HIV
- To make rights, equality and respect a reality for people with HIV in the UK
- To delivery effective commissioning of HIV that addresses local need
The Agenda for Action is aimed at everybody – Government, business, trade unions, healthcare workers, MPs, the voluntary sector, individuals - and we are asking everyone to sign up and pledge do everything they can to help meet these aims and make the practical actions needed a reality.
