If you think you've placed yourself at risk from infection by HIV you can ask for a free and confidential test at your local sexual health clinic.
We also influence local government, professional associations and other organisations whose work has an impact on people living with HIV.
One of the ways in which we do this is by sharing our latest thinking and views with governments through formal consultation processes. We often do this in conjuction with people living with HIV and other organisations to maximise impact.
This means that we have an opportunity to influence draft laws before they are put before the relevant parliaments and assemblies and to influence government policy as it is being developed.
This work can be complex, time-consuming and often commands little media attention, but over time it can achieve the most significant improvements for everybody in the UK living with - or at risk of infection with - HIV.
