Schools and Colleges

A big thank you to all the schools that took part in World AIDS Day 2006, either by taking a red ribbon collection box or by having a red day at school. Hundreds of schools across the UK doubled the amount of money raised last year and helped make the red ribbon visible across the country. The Red Ribbon 2006 campaign has so far raised £72,458 and £53,000 of this total came from schools.
Top five fundraising ideas from schools:
1. Emily, Kerry and Viki, from George Abbots School did a sponsored walk with baked beans and bananas stuffed in their wellies.....Squelch!
2. Louise Rodgers, Director of Sixth Form at Lanswood School, raised money by auctioning off the chance to be chauffeured in her red MX5 for the day to the highest bidder!
3. Students at Blakewater School ran a raffle, sold Christmas cakes and sold balloons for a balloon race
4. Kelso High School created a giant human red ribbon for World AIDS Day
5. Students at Marjon manned an information stall with leaflets, free condoms and red ribbons for sale.
