Why make a Will?

A Will is your gift to the people and causes that were important to you during your lifetime. It is also the only way to make sure that your wishes are carried out after your death.

Many people find the whole area of Wills and legacies confusing or frightening.  But in fact remembering NAT in your Will is a straightforward, easy and cost-effective way to support our work.  All you need to do is let us know that you wish to leave a gift to NAT in your Will. We won't hold you to it if you change your mind, but it will help us plan for the future.

You don't have to choose between family or charity.  You can remember both, giving security to your family and extending your support to your chosen charity.

Because charitable legacies are exempt from Inheritance Tax (which for other beneficiaries is 40%), all of your gift will go to our vital policy and campaigning work.

At the same time you could substantially reduce the amount of tax payable on your estate.  This means that it is possible to support NAT and reduce the amount of tax your family and other beneficiaries will have to pay.

Often people remember their chosen charity in their Will by leaving the proportion of their estate above the Inheritance Tax threshold to charity, thereby avoiding paying any inheritance tax.
