Black Caribbeans
The prevalence of HIV amongst black Caribbean communities in the UK is three times higher than that of the general population.
The number of black Caribbeans living with HIV continues to increase: over 1,600 black Caribbeans were being seen for HIV care in 2007 - nearly five times more than in 1998.
There are no national prevention programmes specifically targeting black Caribbeans. We want to see a significant rise in HIV prevention expenditure across the UK to meet the increased prevention needs of all communities - including black Caribbeans where appropriate - affected by HIV.
