Community Fundraisers

NAT is lucky to have the support of enthusiastic and dedicated fundraisers. We would like to thank all our fundraisers because without them we could not continue to prevent the spread of HIV and improve the lives of people living with the virus.

Here are some highlights of recent fundraising events:

Farlingaye High School

The students and teachers at Farlingaye High School stage an annual rock concert, "Super Rock".  In 2005, they used the event to raise more than £1,400 for NAT, having a great time in the process.

Craig Stevens and friends

To tackle what he saw as a lack of awareness of HIV in Cumbria, Craig Stevens organised "Dragonfest", a huge music event with bands and people coming from all over the country.  This year Dragonfest 2 raised more than £550 for NAT and really brought the message home to the local community.

Craig said afterwards: "Seeing a room full of tough Cumbrian farmers and rugby players all wearing their Red Ribbons was genuinely moving and humbling".

Burntisland Primary School

For World AIDS Day, students and teachers at Burntisland primary school tied a red ribbon around one of their buildings and put pledges on it.  They also took Gordon Brown on a tour of the school. Every child in Primary Six received a certificate signed by Gordon Brown and the children in the Pupil Council were given a special job with Mr. Brown.  The event gained media coverage in their local newspaper, TV and radio and raised over £100.

Douglas Patterson, Burntisland School:

"We as a school have learnt so much about AIDS.  That is what education is all about."

Have you been inspired? You too can help fight HIV by organising your own fundraising event.
